If you’re hitting the road locally or thinking about traveling to visit family and friends this holiday, it’s good to always make sure you’re safe while driving. To help you out, CURE Auto Insurance is offering some great tips for driving in the fall. These tips could not only help you stay safe, but keep your auto insurance rates low.
Tips for Safe Driving in the Fall
We still have about a month of fall left. If you want to make sure you make it through the rest of autumn and the holiday season as a whole safely, here are some tips from CURE Auto Insurance to consider:
- Don’t drive drowsy: If you’re sleepy after eating a big holiday meal, or even getting off of work late at night, it’s good to pull over into a safe area and take a quick nap or avoid leaving at all into you’re ready.
- Watch out for leaves: Roads where leaves accumulate could create difficult driving conditions, especially if the leaves are wet or are covering potholes. If you see a lot of leaves on the road, drive through them with caution.
- Beware of frost and black ice: When temperatures drop at night, moist roads could easily get covered with frost and black ice, which could create extremely slippery conditions. As you approach bridges and overpasses under these conditions, be sure to decelerate and gently break.
- Be careful of fog: Fog is very common in the fall thanks to rapidly changing temperatures. In these conditions, keep your low beam headlights on to keep your visibility at the highest level.
- Watch for animals: In the fall, deer very often run into the roadway because it is an active breeding time, so look out for them and be prepared to break if you see one run into the road.
Fall is one of the most enjoyable and eventful seasons of the year. To make sure you get the most of it–and are around to see it next year–take the necessary steps to drive as safely as possible.
