Bentley has released new information about their latest vehicle, the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible. Using a 630 PS (621 bhp / 463 kW) twin-turbo W12 engine, the car sprints to 60mph in 3.9 seconds on its way to a 202 mph (325 km/h) top speed.
Not only is this the fastest Bentley convertible produced by the factory, but the company claims it is "the fastest four-seat convertible in the world."
"The new Supersports Convertible blends thrilling performance and dramatic styling with luxury and practicality in the Bentley open-top tradition," said Bentley chief Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen. The "practicality" he refers to is the drop-top's ability to run on any combination of petrol and biofuel. The entire Continental range uses FlexFuel technology now.
Thanks to the on-board fuel monitor measuring the fuel blend in the engine, the car consistently benefits from up to 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. This, combined with the revised Quickshift transmission, helps the car to a 0-100 mph (161 km/h) time of 9.6 seconds, according to a Bentley press release.
Carbon-ceramic brakes weigh less than previously-offered brake sets. The convertible rides on 20-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Ultra High Performance tires. Other features on the car includes a stiff suspension, Continuous Daming Control, and an all-wheel-drive with 40/60 torque split in favor of the rear wheels. This was done in an effort to reduce understeer.
The car's interior is decked out with satin-finish carbon-fiber trim, quilted design on the seat and door inserts, Alcantara, and leather. One thing is certain: the interior looks incredibly comfortable, especially for a car that moves quickly.
